BÀI 3: SO SÁNH CỦA TÍNH TỪ VÀ TRẠNG TỪ

1. Tóm tắt bài giảng:

 

1. So sánh bằng:

• Công thức: As + adj / Adv + as

He is as tall as me = He is as tall as I am.

He works as hard as me = He works as hard as I do. Trong so sánh “không bằng” ta có thể dùng so…as thay cho as….as I am not so / as tall as you. (Tôi không cao bằng bạn) He  doesn’t works as / so hard as me.

• as + adj + noun + as

Ví dụ: I earn as much money as him.

There are as many cats in my room as in his room.

• Đọc thêm:

Có thể thêm các chữ sau đây trƣớc so sánh bằng để làm rõ nghĩa hơn: exactly = just, nearly=  almost, hardly, twice, three times…

I am exactly/just as tall as you. (Tôi cao đúng bằng bạn)

I am almost/nearly as tall as you. (Tôi cao gần bằng bạn)

 

2. So sánh hơn:

Công thức với tính từ / trạng từ ngắn ( là adj / adv chỉ có 1 âm tiết):

Adj / Adv + er + than

I am taller than him. (Tôi cao hơn anh ấy) = He isn’t so tall as me.

I work harder than him. (Tôi làm việc chăm chỉ hơn anh ấy) = He doesn’t work as hard as me.

Công thức với tính từ / trạng từ dài:

More + Adj / Adv  + than

I am more beautiful than her. (Tôi đẹp hơn cô ấy) She dances more beautifully than me.

• Đặc biệt: Tuy narrow và clever là tính từ dài (2 âm tiết) nhƣng ta vẫn thêm _er cho so sánh hơn: narrower, cleverer
• Những tính từ, trạng từ mà gốc của từ kết thúc là Y thì đổi thành I rồi thêm er . Ví dụ: early

àearlier ; easy àeasier ; busy à busier ;  happy à happier

Những trạng từ đƣợc cấu tạo từ tính từ bằng cách thêm LY thì ta dùng more + adv (vì gốc của trạng từ đó không phải là Y). Ví dụ: more slowly, more quietly, more carefully…

• Những trương hợp đặc biệt good / well à   better ill / bad / badly à  worse

little  à   less

many / much   à    more

far    à   farther/ further

old    à  older / elder

 

• Lưu ý:
• Khi muốn diễn đạt anh (chị) lớn, anh (chị) cả trong gia đình ta thương dùng elder brother, elder sister. Nhƣng muốn diễn đạt lớn hơn bao tuổi thì ta dùng older. Ví dụ: My elder brother is three years older than me.

Nam is Linh’s elder brother.

• “Farther” và “Further”

Farther: Thương đƣợc dùng để nói về khoảng cách địa lý.

Further: Thương dùng với nghĩa bóng “thêm vào”, “hơn nữa”.  Ví dụ: I will give you further details later.

For further information, …………..

• So sánh hơn không nhất thiết phải có ‘than’ trong câu. Ví dụ:

There is less rain today.

If you learn English well, you can get a better job.

• Cách dùng “more” và “less”: more / less + adj / adv + than Ví dụ: There are more people today.

He did more carefully than me.

Ta cũng có thể dùng: He did less carefully than me. (Anh ta không cẩn thận bằng tôi)

• Ta có thể nhấn mạnh sự hơn nhiều bằng cách dùng “much/far/a lot, many, greatly, a great deal” hoặc hơn ít bằng cách thêm “a bit/a little/slightly” trƣớc hình thức so sánh.. Ví dụ: I am far taller than you. (Tôi cao hơn bạn nhiều) I am much more beautiful than you.

This house is slightly more expensive than that one. (Căn nhà này thì hơi mắc hơn căn nhà kia.)

 

3. So sánh nhất:

Công thức tính từ/trạng từ ngắn:

The Adj/Adv +est

( Thêm the trƣớc tính từ và thêm est sau tính từ. Phía sau có thể có N hoặc không.) Ví dụ: I am the tallest student in the class. (Tôi là học sinh cao nhất trong lớp) Công thức tính từ dài:

The most Adj/Adv

( Thêm the most trƣớc tính từ. Phía sau có thể có N hoặc không.)

Ví dụ: I am the most beautiful girl in my class. (Tôi đẹp nhất) Chú ý:

• Nếu chỉ có 2 đối tƣợng thì chỉ dùng so sánh hơn, so sánh nhất chỉ dùng khi có từ 3 đối tƣợng trở nên.
• Vì là so sánh nhất thì đối tƣợng đó đã xác định nên trong so sánh nhất bao giờ cũng phải có

“the” ngoại trừ khi đã có sở hữu cách. Ví dụ: my best book.

• I like Jane the most of all brothers and sisters. (Trong số những anh chị em gái, tôi thích Jane nhất.)
• So sánh hơn nhất hay đi với cấu trúc S+ have + ever:

Ví dụ: This is the most beautiful girl I have ever met.

This is the best film I’ve ever seen.

• Một số Idiom (thành ngữ) dùng so sánh hơn as soon as: càng sớm càng tốt Ví dụ: as soon as possible as well as = and

I need to learn English as well as Math

üCó thể lƣợc bớt mệnh đề sau “than”:

I did the exam better than I had expected. = I did the exam better than expected. üat the latest: là muộn nhất

You should submit by Friday at the latest. (Bạn cần phải nộp trƣớc thứ 6 là muộn nhất)

üat least: ít nhất

 

4. So sánh kép (Double comparison) Dạng 1:

Với tính từ / trạng từ ngắn:

S + V + adj-er + and +  adj-er Ví dụ: It is hotter and hotter. (Trời càng ngày càng nóng.)

Với tính từ / trạng từ dài:

S + V + more and more + adj / adv The lessons are more and more difficult.  Dạng 2:

The + so sánh hơn + S + V, the +  so sánh hơn + S + V The hotter it is, the more unpleasant I feel.

The younger you are, the easier it is to learn.

The more you study, the higher your results are.

 

1. Tài liệu đọc thêm:

• Nếu muốn nói nhất trong số các đối tƣợng thì dùng of phía sau. Mary is the tallest of the three girls. (Mary cao nhất trong số 3 cô gái)

Cũng có thể để cụm of….. đầu câu:

Of the three girls, Mary is the tallest. (Trong số 3 cô gái, Mary cao nhất)

• SO SÁNH SỐ LẦN

Dùng so sánh bằng và số lần để trƣớc so sánh.

Ví dụ:

I am twice as heavy as you. (Tôi nặng gấp 2 lần bạn)

SO SÁNH SỐ LƢỢNG

Dùng so sánh HƠN và số lƣợng để trƣớc so sánh Ví dụ:

I am 2 kg heavier than you. (Tôi nặng hơn bạn 2kg) I am 3 years older than you.

Có thể dùng danh từ thay cho số lƣợng.

Ví dụ:

I am a head taller than you. (Tôi cao hơn bạn 1 cái đầu) = I am taller than you by a head.

Bài 2. Kết hợp 2 câu cho sẵn thành 1 câu bằng sử dụng so sánh kép.
